Type set in DIN laser cut from two sheets of plexi-glass. Plates were tilted at a slight angle as we photographed a number of different materials coursing over letter forms: anti-acids, detergents, inks and dyes.</p></div>

<p class="for-margin"><strong>Campus Events Commission</strong> is a stu­dent-​fund­ed or­ga­ni­za­tion bring­ing the fresh­est fare in film, mu­sic, and speak­ers to UCLA. I worked as a print designer, designing posters and flyers for CEC during my junior and senior years at UCLA.</p>

<p class="for-margin"><a href="http://www.myspace.com/yeasayer">Yeasayer</a> is an experimental/psychedelic rock group that starting gaining attention in 2007. Their music has an almost ecclesiastical flavor. These posters represent an effort to combine the aesthetics of stained glass with psych art.</p>

<p><strong>Anamorphic Type Engine</strong>. A two dimensional image is &#8220;dissected,&#8221; its parts extruded on the z-axis. The size of the parts is a function of their position on the z-axis, so that from a given point, the image appears to be sitting on a two-dimensional plane.</p>
<p>The structures are conceived as hanging sculptures. The image above shows what a given &#8220;plot,&#8221; or the application&#8217;s output, might look like. Each piece of the structure is tethered to the ceiling by two wires. The application can produce an image of the ceiling showing the point at which each wire should be connected. A to-scale blueprint of the entire composition also dictates the length of each given wire.</p>

<p>The <strong>editing environment</strong> allows users to manipulate the position of pieces, as well as the the &#8220;focal point&#8221; that the illusion respects. As users drag pieces back and forth along the z-axis, their scale is automatically compensated to maintain the anamorphic illusion.</p>

<p>Portfolio for design duo Willem Augustus. Willem Augustus is Willem Henri Lucas and Davey Whitcraft, professors of typography and book design at UCLA and OTIS, respectively.</p>

The two had an idea for a portfolio with no images—instead, any one of the pair&#8217;s many multilingual friends lend their voice to an audio description of the project in question.
